New Study Finds Retailers Impatient for Insights,
Placing New Expectations on BI Solutions

RSR Research, an analyst firm providing market intelligence on retail technology trends, announces the results of its latest research report, "The Democratization of Business Intelligence: How Retailers ‘Sense and Respond’ Across the Enterprise." The research shows retailers have turned the corner in their attitudes about pre-packaged solutions. Retailers also see great potential in the management and transformation of unstructured data gathered from social media, and have overcome their skepticism of “smart” mobile devices as a tool for management.

Miami, FL (PRWeb) April 20, 2010 - RSR Research's latest report, "The Democratization of Business Intelligence: How Retailers ‘Sense and Respond’ Across the Enterprise" shows retailers’ need to respond more quickly to consumer sentiment – before over-committing to inventory purchases, and well before sales data is gathered . The report can be downloaded at http://www.retailsystemsresearch.com/_document/summary/1193. The research was supported by SAP and SAS in partnership with the National Retail Federation (NRF).

"We were excited to see the dramatic shift in Retailer sentiment about real-time BI tools," said Paula Rosenblum, Managing Partner at RSR Research and co-author of the report. "Retailers do understand the value of delivering actionable information into the hands of those who need it – business operators – even as they move towards simpler and more modern ways to deliver that information."

"We were equally pleased to see retailers embracing the notion of an enterprise-wide BI strategy,” adds Brian Kilcourse, also a Managing Partner at RSR Research and co-author of the report. "Large retailers in particular have developed such strategies, and while they have a long way to go in bridging the gap between the perceived value and what they’ve achieved so far, the steps they’re taking are significant and very real."

"The Democratization of Business Intelligence: How Retailers ‘Sense and Respond’ Across the Enterprise" contains analysis of the business drivers, opportunities, and organizational constraints surrounding near real-time BI and as well as recommendations for creating successful processes and KPI’s to measure the success of initiatives. The report is part of RSR Research's ongoing efforts to provide market intelligence on retail technology trends, and can be downloaded here:
